This is the route that brings you back from island time to reality. Or at least, back to Bohol, which is the hub of the Visayas. You spent 2-3 magical days on Siquijor — diving, snorkeling, exploring the quiet towns and mystical waterfalls — and now you’re heading to Panglao to decompress, or onwards to Cebu to catch a flight. The Siquijor-Bohol ferry is your gateway back, and because OceanJet runs only two sailings a day, you need to treat it with respect.

What makes this route different from the reverse journey: you’re leaving a smaller port, getting picked up from island resorts, and probably timing a connection to Cebu. The ferry itself is the same OceanJet catamaran, the duration is identical, but the logistics are tighter. Siquijor Port is 20-30 minutes from the main tourist beaches, and if you miss the morning departure, the afternoon ferry gets you into Bohol at 5-6 PM, eating into your Panglao evening.

Siquijor Port: Departure Guide

Siquijor Port sits in Siquijor town on the eastern side of the island, about 20-30 minutes from the main tourist beaches (San Juan, Paliton, Salagdoong). It’s a small, straightforward port — far simpler than Tagbilaran or Cebu — but you still need a clear plan for getting there on time with luggage.

Getting to Siquijor Port

From San Juan Beach / Alona-style resorts: 25-30 minutes by private car or hotel shuttle. A tricycle costs PHP 250-400 but isn’t practical with luggage and a tight ferry window. Arrange a private transfer or hotel pickup at least 2 hours before departure.

From Paliton or Salagdoong area: 20-25 minutes by car. The western beaches are slightly closer to the port, but timing is still tight if you’re catching a morning ferry. Book pickup the afternoon before to confirm the driver knows exactly when and where to collect you.

At the Port

Siquijor Port is compact and moves quickly. Arrive 45 minutes before departure. Check-in is minimal — present your booking confirmation, passport, and ticket. There’s a small waiting area with a café. The port has basic amenities: restroom, water station, a tiny canteen. No luggage storage if you arrive early. If you have 90 minutes before departure, you’re fine wandering Siquijor town; the port is 5 minutes walk from the town center, with restaurants and shops nearby.

Arriving at Tagbilaran Port, Bohol

You’ll arrive at Tagbilaran Port on the southwestern coast of Bohol. It’s the same port where the Cebu-Bohol ferries dock, so if you flew into Bohol, you probably recognize it. Disembarkation is quick — 5-10 minutes — and your transfer driver will be waiting at the arrivals area with a name sign.

Getting to Your Destination from Tagbilaran

To Panglao / Alona Beach

20-30 min

The main tourist hub. White-sand beaches, restaurants, dive shops. Your transfer will drop you at your hotel or beach resort. Most ferries arrive by 12:30 PM, giving you afternoon beach time.

To Cebu (same-day connection)

Ferry at 2:00-3:00 PM

If you caught the morning Siquijor ferry, you’ll arrive in Bohol by noon with time to catch the afternoon OceanJet to Cebu. This is tight but standard for travelers doing the Visayas loop. Let us know you’re connecting; we optimize timing.

To Chocolate Hills / Loboc area

45-90 min

Interior Bohol attractions. Your transfer can take you there directly or drop you in Tagbilaran town for a onward connection. The afternoon ferry usually gets you too late for a same-day Chocolate Hills tour.
