How to Get from Siquijor to Panglao: Complete Ferry Guide 2026

Siquijor → Panglao · ~2 hours total · Updated April 2026

Quick Answer

The honest local guide to Siquijor→Panglao: direct OceanJet ferry to Tagbilaran, real prices, hotel transfer options, and the one-ticket combo that skips the Dumaguete detour. Written by a Bohol-born local who walks these ports weekly.

Why most “Siquijor to Panglao” advice gets it wrong

Search “Siquijor to Panglao” and you’ll get a wall of results that route you through Dumaguete: Siquijor to Dumaguete by ferry, Dumaguete to Tagbilaran by another ferry, then a transfer. Three legs. Half a day. A lot of luggage handling.

There is a direct OceanJet ferry from Siquijor Port to Tagbilaran. The aggregators don’t list it cleanly because direct routes are harder to bundle. The boat exists, it runs, and it cuts the trip roughly in half.

This guide is written by people who walk these ports weekly. We’re a small Bohol-based concierge, born and raised here, and we’ve spent five years stitching together the routes that the big platforms list as separate legs. We’ll tell you exactly how this trip works — including the parts that aren’t in anyone else’s guide.

The route, leg by leg

There are two legs to a Siquijor → Panglao trip. Most blog posts make you think there are three or four. There aren’t.

Leg 1: Siquijor Port → Tagbilaran Port (the ferry)

This is the only sea leg. OceanJet runs a direct fast craft from Siquijor to Tagbilaran. Air-conditioned catamaran, similar build to the Cebu route. The crossing takes about 2 hours. Open water between Siquijor and Bohol — usually smooth, occasionally rolly if the weather is bad.

What nobody tells you: arrive at Siquijor Port at least 60 minutes before departure. The port is smaller and quieter than Cebu’s Pier 1, but the same multi-step check-in still applies (terminal fee booth → ticket validation → baggage screening → boarding gate). First-timers regularly miss boats because they assumed a sleepy port meant a sleepy process. It doesn’t.

Leg 2: Tagbilaran Port → Panglao bridge → your hotel (the land transfer)

This is where most travelers lose 60-90 minutes and a few hundred pesos to taxi confusion. Tagbilaran Port sits on the south side of Tagbilaran City. Panglao is connected to Bohol by two bridges (the old Borja and the new Panglao bridge). Depending on which beach you’re going to — Alona, Dumaluan, Doljo, Bingag — the drive is 25 to 50 minutes.

Three ways to handle this leg:

  1. Tricycle: Cheapest (~PHP 300-500) but slow, hot, and you’ll arrive sweaty. Not realistic with luggage or kids.
  2. Random van or taxi at the port: Drivers start the haggle at PHP 1,000 and go up from there. They know you just got off the boat and have no leverage.
  3. Pre-arranged private transfer: PHP 1,000-1,500 depending on group size and destination beach. Driver waiting with a sign at the exit gate. No haggling. This is what locals book for their visiting friends.

Getting to Siquijor Port (your side of the trip)

We don’t run hotel pickups on Siquijor. The island is small, the roads are quiet, and tricycles are readily available everywhere — including at your hotel and right outside the port. Tell your hotel the night before; they’ll arrange one. Expect PHP 150-300 from most coastal accommodations to Siquijor Port.

Bundling a Siquijor pickup into the combo would double the price for something a tricycle handles fine. We left it out on purpose.

Where on Panglao matters more than you think

“Panglao” is not a single place. Different beaches have different transfer times and very different vibes. If you’re booking blind, here’s what you should know:

When you book a transfer, tell the driver which beach. Don’t assume “Panglao” — Doljo and Alona are 25 minutes apart and the price reflects it.
